It shows a creavitve and imaginative world with both good and evil and the struggle between the two. You imediately fall in love with the characters, even the ones who seem brash and rude. The twists and turns you can't imagine send shock waves as you uncover them. From one thing to the next you hope things work out for the characters before it's too late. I have to admit when I first read the background for this book, I thought it could be cheesey luckily, I was wrong. The basis is the main character and some friends are on earth playing a game, then they are transported to a world where they have become the characters they were pretending to be. The are endowed with all the power their players possesed as well as their physical looks. I was pleasantly surprised to find the story engaging and active. It was amazing how well the author translates ideas behind actions and makes the scenes come alive. This book is creative and adventurous. You don't feel a lull in the story when action is less prevelent, instead the author draws you in with the personal experiences the characters face, and how it affects them. It has everythig from romance to war to pain and suffering, this book has everything you could really want from a great book. I suggest you stop reading this and go read it!

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-85357029881136364092011-02-27T10:54:00.000-08:002011-02-27T10:57:52.010-08:00Maggie StiefvaterMaggie Stiefvater is an awsome author who is doing spring cleaning!!!
Check out her blog: HereAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-14450876335247211072011-02-26T12:00:00.000-08:002011-02-26T12:10:17.505-08:00contest winnersSo, since I only had three people enter to win the books, all of you will recieve one. She has a way of being really creative but making it seem so believable you think it could be real. This book takes you back into the world of Parthalon, which if you've read P.C. before you know it from the Divine books. Like those this book has an emphasis on good vs. evil as well as love and trust. You can feel the loneliness of some of the characters, as well as the buds of love and joy that develop. The story is one wrapped in magic as well as pain though. The things the characters have suffered has let them learn and grow, making their personalities strong and brave. You will fall in love with this world and the people P.C. has creates in it.

View all my reviews

Brighid's Quest by P.C. Cast

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Again I have to share my praise for P.C. Cast. This book was fabulous! It had a different focus than some of her books, it went from pain, death and suffering to love, life and happiness. It shows you the experience and trials a person who has lost a loved one may go through (I was crying for a large portion of the book). It is deffinately a difficult thing to be able to express through a book but the story is written so that you can begin to at least understand it. The transition from dealing with the death then recovering is done well, you see it's not something that you can just forget, but you can heal from it. Then to make you love the book even though it is sad, it brings back love, life and happiness, it a is difficult thing to accomplish but she does it. When that love is realized the trials to come are easier because the characters now have each other. And of course throughout the book, she gives you the sense that there will be redemption, you are not lost to the pain. You close the book with a sense of newness and redemption. Though I am hoping from the epilogue, there will be another book to the Parthalon series.

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-79541173274871419782011-01-26T13:46:00.001-08:002011-01-26T13:46:33.097-08:00Accross The Universe reviewAcross the Universe by Beth Revis

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The story kept you guessing and wanting more. When you finally figure out what's going on, you wonder how they can fix everything. Then you don't find out, because that will be hopefully coming in the second book. You wonder how a society could run the way it had been. How anyone could think that was okay to do to anothe human being. But clearly there have been those who devalue life causing strife and pain, thinking it is for the greater good. But it is not. This book brings up points of view that make you question how the world runs. Would it be better if everyone were the same? Would the wars and suffering end if all differences were gone? Would it be a better world if people simply followed as they were told? These are things this book makes you think about, and feel disgusted by at times. If our world had swayed a different way...

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-71429527993668620742011-01-12T11:11:00.001-08:002011-01-12T11:11:36.770-08:00Radient ShadowsRadiant Shadows by Melissa Marr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What I like most abou these books, they are all tied together, but not the same storyline. The characters are in many of the books, but the main character is different. This one centers on Ani, a half breed, and Devlin, of the High Court. They are originally tied together because of disobedience, but as they spend more time together it grows into a true bond. Their lives are completely changed by each other. They found who they are in each other. This is a beautiful story of love, lies, and change.

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-38136182376520350122011-01-11T11:11:00.000-08:002011-01-11T12:37:09.247-08:00The "Launch" of the Good Ship Godspeed!(Jeremy West over at Novel Thoughts made the awesome banner you're look at!)

Hey everyone, Guess what?! The first thing I thought when I bought this one was, it's so thin, I was sad. But though it was shorter than some of the others in the series it was great. There were twists and turns I had not expected, and characters popping in and out of the story you thought were finished or still continuing. And I'll be honest I was crying a lot as I read, but that's good because it means the authors wrote it in a way that really connects you to the characters. When they felt pain so did you. I was not expecting some of the reactions to certain events or the choice of sides for some characters, deffinately some serious changes. It seems there will be some very unexpected events in the next book as well. I can not wait until November for the next installment!!!

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-68979024775711173652011-01-08T17:54:00.000-08:002011-02-08T09:47:46.487-08:00Book Giveaway!

I am hosting a book giveaway starting Jan.10 and ending Feb.10(it will now be the 23), 2011 to celebrate my daughters 1st Birthday! I absolutely loved it. The thing that makes it so good is because it is plausable. Though it's not set in the world as we know it, you could see something like this happening. The characters are riveting and spell-binding. So much passion and drive you feel for them, for their suffering, anxiety... everything. It makes you wonder how people could ever treat another human that way, and yet, it wouldn't surprise you if it did happen. You realize the depths of darkness that a person is capable of. But, These are all reasons why the story is so captivating.

View all my reviews

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Again, Suzanne Collins has done a fabulous job. She continues the story she introduced in The Hunger Games, only to see after all the suffering and trials the characters have been through, they will just see more. Picking up the story from their escape from harm to only realize it is so much worse than it was before. Introducing even darker characters and plots and bringing a culmination where they must decide what to do next. Will they fight or flee? Will they live through it? Could it possibly get worse if they fight? or if they flee? Will they ever see peace and quiet... I suggest you go get your keys and drive to the store, and BUY THIS BOOK! (and of course read, IMMEDIATLY!)

View all my reviews

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So this is the conclusion to The Hunger Games trilogy. The story begins in The Hunger Games (book 1)by introducing a family, who have already suffered the loss of a father. Then, to make matters worse the youngest sister, Primrose is selected to compete in the Hunger Games. But Katniss, the elder sister (and main provider), volunteers to go in her place and possibly lose her life as well. Alongside her a boy named Peeta is selected to enter. Apparently he has been in love with her for a while, and he declares his love to the nation just before the Games begin (Katniss believes it is just a ploy to help them survive the games). Throughout the games you realize he meant it, and though the Games can only have one survivor (he tries to ensure it is her). They work the system to both survive. Which angers the Capitol- the ruling government, to the point that they are now trying to find a way to have them killed. Enter the Quarter Quells, (in book 2- Catching Fire). Katniss is again entered into the Games, along with other Victors of previous Games. She swears to protect Peeta because she believes he is the better person of the two. The other Victors and the Rebels have another plan, they want her to be their spokesperson for the war to come, so they break her from the Games. Mockingjay (book 3), now she has to decide what she will do, be the voice and face of the rebels against the Capitol? and possibly be used by yet another government for control? Meanwhile, Peeta was captured and is being tortued and used against her. Will she help the Rebels, will Peeta survive? Will the Capitol be brought down? Can they ever have peace, and hope for a good future? This book will make you sad, angry, happy and so much more. You hope for their cause, yet wonder if it's all worth it. The sacrifices and pain they suffer, could it be ended? Will the new government actually be any better? Will Katniss and Peeta ever have their own happily ever afters?

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-27514603380439157102010-12-24T10:13:00.000-08:002011-01-08T16:23:33.649-08:00Midnight RiotI really enjoyed this book, though it's not my normal genre so I thought I'd share my review.

Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1)
by Ben Aaronovitch

I recieved this book from a first reads giveaway. It was a fabulous read. So many twists and unexpected turns. As you read you begin to develop ideas of what you thinks is happening, only to find, you're wrong. The way the main character was written made you feel his anxiety, pain and excitement. It was not a boring and predictable read, it keeps you enthralled to the end. The idea of magic in this book makes you feel like it really could be real, hidden in secret waiting to be discovered. It could be something anyone can learn, given the right circumstances. Magic is something in all of us, just waiting to be tapped. My recomendation, is anyone who enjoys an exciting action packed book that will keep you guessing and hoping, pick this one up, you won't be disappointed.
flagAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-82584934567835965132010-12-22T17:31:00.000-08:002010-12-22T17:32:34.302-08:00AwsomenessCheck out this blog and the giveaways!

Angela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-88767540378390483802010-12-21T21:29:00.000-08:002010-12-21T21:30:42.167-08:00Midwinters eve giveaway!okay so there is an awsome giveaay going on with over 100 blogs participating, check it out:
http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot.com/p/midwinters-eve-giveaway-hop.htmlAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-45269393206046213492010-12-14T12:35:00.000-08:002010-12-14T12:37:28.361-08:00AtUOkay so there is this amazing giveaway contest going on from the author of Across the Universe, she is giving out 100 prizes!!!! I absolutly loved the story. The book is written eloquently and intelligently. I feel like I have gained a greater knowlegde of vocabulary from it. From page one it challenged me to not just simply read but comtemplate and understand the story. It keeps you trying to guess what will happen next and often, I at least, got it wrong (which is a good thing). I really fell in love with not just the characters but the ideas and beliefs the characters have and develop. For a book about fairies it really touches on the true desires of the Human heart. I would deffinately recomend this to anyone who loves a great story and gaining knowledge from reading.

View all my reviewsAngela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-35302478759464058932010-09-25T19:24:00.000-07:002011-01-08T19:08:57.449-08:00BlindSo I had this dream and it was interesting so I thought I'd put it in story format.

The phone rang, again. I finally picked up. It was my husbands work, they said he had been badly burned and would be coming home late. It made no sense, why would he be late if her was injured, wouldn't they send him home early? He'd be okay, he had to be, I need him, the baby needs him. I put it out of my mind, and went on with my day.

About an hour had gone by, he should be home soon. I heard a noise at the door, thinking it was him, I opened it and went back to the baby. He didn't come in however, so I went back and shut the door again. The baby was making a lot of noise and crying so I went to check on her. I picked her up and cuddled her to settle her down. She just wouldn't stop crying, something had upset her. I did not find out what it had been, because at that moment I suddenly couldnt see anything, I was blind. My husband had finally gotten home, but instead of coming directly inside he yelled up to me that he was going to check on something strange he had heard in the garage. I tried to call to him to wait, something was wrong with me, "Wait, I can't see, help me." He didn't hear me so I tried to get up to follow him, the baby was still crying and wriggling in my arms. It took a bit more effort to get up then it should have and when I did, I could see again. The strange thing was the baby wasn't in my arms anymore, I must have set her down to pick myself back up. It was all so strange, I wasn't even concerned that she was no longer in my arms. I was only worried about my husband.

When I caught up to him, he was just outside the garage. A man came running out and away from him, my husband looked confused, but worried. Why had this man been in our garage, how had he gotten in there, and who was he? I tried to ask my husband what was going on, but again he didn't hear me. He should have, I was right behind him. Was he mad at me, did he think I had something to do with this guy? He continued into the garage, I was right behind him, practically on his heels, why was he ignoring me? "Honey, can you hear me, what's going on?" Again he acts as if I wasn't even there. What's going on? He continued from the garage and into the house. The baby was still crying, he ran the rest of the way into the house. So, he could hear her, but not me? When we walked into the living room I remembered what had happened. The baby was lying there, crying, still in my arms.

I was dead. That man was in my house, he had killed me.Angela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5719296918930412132.post-42282180407316773142010-09-12T18:29:00.000-07:002010-09-12T18:31:19.432-07:00blogfestso if you havent seen it yet check out all the blogs on the blogfest via http://ajourneyofbooks.com/blogfest/
it's awsome!Angela Sharphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16886649964577566141noreply@blogger.com0
